Since 1991, scientists from approximately 45 nations have participated in nine International Conferences on Serpentine Ecology (ICSE). The conferences always highlight a region with intriguing serpentine soil-biota relations. Previous conferences have been held in the USA (California and Maine), New Caledonia, South Africa, Cuba, Italy, Portugal, Malaysia, and Albania. These conferences have become an international forum to discuss and synthesize multidisciplinary research on serpentine environments and have produced a platform from which scientists in different fields and from different regions of the world can conduct joint research. The 10th International Conference on Serpentine Ecology will be held during 12-16 June 2023 in Nancy, France. For more information about the conference, please refer to the website: https://icse2023.sciencesconf.org/

The Proceedings of the 10th ICSE will be published in the form of a Special Issue in Ecological Research, which is the official English language journal of The Ecological Society of Japan and publishes original papers on all aspects of ecology, including both aquatic and terrestrial ecosystems. This journal is published by Wiley and indexed in SCIE (Science Citation Index Expanded) with an impact factor of 2.056 in 2021, and authors whose papers are accepted can publish free of charge (an Open Access option is also available for a fee). For information about the journal, see: https://esj-journals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/14401703

Manuscripts appropriate for the Special Issue can cover a variety of subjects relating to plant-soil relationships in ultramafic ecosystems from all around the world, including ecology, taxonomy, soil science, and biogeochemistry. There are four article types: Original Articles  (5000-7000 words), Notes and Insights (1000–2000 words), Technical Notes (1000–3000 words), and Review or Current topics in ecology (3000–5000 words). For all article types we are seeking high-quality competitive manuscripts that will be subjected to rigorous external review. Full author guidelines for preparation of a manuscript can be found on the website of Ecological Research. There are two ways to submit your manuscript:

Please send the following information to the Ecological Research Editorial Office (ecores@esj.ne.jp) when you decide to submit your manuscript and provide:
   - Title (a tentative title is acceptable)
   - The corresponding author (name and e-mail address)
   - The expected submission date

Then the author will receive a submission invitation e-mail from the editorial office. The e-mail is linked to a form for an invited manuscript.

Alternatively, authors can submit a manuscript via the submission site in the same manner as general submissions.
That website is: https://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/ecores
   - Please declare the manuscript is for the Serpentine Ecology Special Issue in the cover letter.
   - Please choose 'Special Feature (Serpentine Ecology)' at the submission step, as seen in the screenshot below
.

We look forward to receiving your contributions!
